Accessibility at Mystwood Studios

We want everyone to be able to read, browse, and enjoy what we make. This page is an honest statement about where our website stands on accessibility today — what we already do well, what we know is imperfect, and how to reach us if something is getting in your way.
This statement covers mystwoodstudios.com. It does not cover the K-World printed coloring books, which are physical products — for those, see the “Alternative formats” section below.
1. The standards we follow
We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA as our baseline, and we track the European Accessibility Act (EAA) as it applies to consumer digital services in the EU. WCAG 2.1 AA is the practical bar we design and build against; the EAA is the regulatory frame we keep in view as it phases in.
Where a page or feature falls short of AA, we say so in the next section rather than claiming compliance we have not earned.
2. What we already do
The studio site is built classic-first — server-rendered HTML, with progressive enhancement only where it earns its place. Concretely, on every page of the site:
- Semantic landmarks — every page exposes
<header>,<nav>,<main>, and<footer>regions so screen readers can jump straight to the content. - One H1 per page — heading order is preserved, so screen-reader users can scan the document outline without surprises.
- Skip-to-content link — the first focusable element on every page jumps you past the navigation directly into the main content.
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element (links, buttons, the cookie banner, the menu, the contact form) is reachable and operable using only the keyboard. Focus rings are not suppressed.
- Alt text on meaningful images — illustration, cover art, and character art carry descriptive alt text. Purely decorative images use empty
alt=""so screen readers skip them. - Form labels — every input on the contact and newsletter forms is associated with a visible
<label>. - Color and contrast — body text on every page meets WCAG AA contrast against its background. Headings and large display type meet AA-large.
- Reduced motion respected — where we use motion, we honour the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting and serve a still alternative. - Resizable text — text reflows cleanly up to 200% zoom in modern browsers without horizontal scrolling on the main reading column.
- Dark backgrounds, not dark patterns — the cookie banner offers a clear “Essential only” choice next to “Accept”, same visual weight; the navigation does not hide options behind hover-only menus.
3. Tools that help on our site
You should not need any special software to use the site, but the following common tools work as expected:
- Screen readers — the site has been smoke-tested with VoiceOver (macOS / iOS) and NVDA (Windows). Heading structure, landmarks, and link text all read in a sensible order.
- Keyboard-only navigation — tab forwards, Shift+Tab back, Enter to activate, Esc to dismiss the cookie banner.
- Browser zoom — Ctrl/Cmd + and Ctrl/Cmd – work on every page.
- Browser reading mode — Safari Reader, Firefox Reader View, and Edge Immersive Reader extract the article body cleanly on lore entries, dev-blog posts, and press releases.
4. Known limitations
We would rather name the rough edges than hide them. As of the date above, we are aware that:
- Some lore-entry illustrations carry shorter alt text than the visual deserves. We are progressively expanding alt descriptions as the lore index ships.
- Decorative section dividers (the wave and torn-paper SVGs between sections) are marked
aria-hidden, which is correct — but if you have CSS turned off, they will appear inline. They carry no information, so this is cosmetic only. - The cookie banner is keyboard-operable but does not yet trap focus inside itself while open. We have this on the list to fix.
- PDF press kit assets distributed under
/press-kitare not yet tagged for screen readers. Plain-text versions are available on request — see Section 6. - Embedded social-share thumbnails rendered by third-party platforms (LinkedIn, X, Facebook) when you share a link are outside our control; we set descriptive
og:titleandog:descriptionso the share preview is readable.
If you find something we have missed, please tell us — we treat every report as a bug, not a complaint.
5. Alternative formats on request
We can provide certain content in alternative formats when you ask. This includes:
- Plain-text or large-print versions of pages from this site, including legal documents.
- A text-described summary of any K-World cover art or character illustration on the site.
- A reader-friendly digital copy of K-World coloring book line art for use with assistive tools (the printed coloring book itself is a tactile product and not always practical to adapt — we will discuss your need on a case-by-case basis).
There is no fee for alternative-format requests. We aim to respond within five working days.
6. How to report an accessibility issue
If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, please reach out directly:
- Email: info@mystwoodstudios.com
- Subject line: Accessibility — [page or feature]
- Please include the page URL, what you were trying to do, and (if you are comfortable sharing) which assistive technology or browser you were using.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two working days and to confirm a fix or workaround within fifteen working days. For complex issues that need design or development work, we will give you a realistic timeline and an interim workaround where one exists.
7. Enforcement procedure
If you have raised an accessibility issue with us and you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to your national accessibility-compliance body in the EU. We will cooperate with any such enquiry.
8. Scope and review cycle
- In scope: all pages served from mystwoodstudios.com, including the K-World marketing pages, Kaeros lore index, dev blog, articles, and legal documents.
- Out of scope: third-party platforms we link to (Amazon, Etsy, app stores), embedded video players if we ever add them, and the K-World printed coloring books as physical objects (see Alternative formats above).
We review this statement at least every twelve months, and any time we ship a substantial change to the site’s navigation, forms, or interactive components.
9. Contact
For anything related to accessibility on this site:

- See also our Privacy Policy for how we handle the personal data you share when you contact us.
This document is pending lawyer review. Until reviewed, treat as a working accessibility statement based on WCAG 2.1 AA self-assessment and current EAA guidance — not as a formal conformance claim or legal advice.
